Please note: K3 Armory is a licensed Type 01 Federal Firearms Dealer (FFL) and we are licensed by the ATF as a “Dealer” only. We are not a licensed gunsmith and do not hold a Type 07 (Manufacturer) FFL license required to make or build full firearms. Additionally, the upgrade and installation services we offer are performed by an experienced firearms enthusiast with years of hands-on experience building and modifying ARs and other platforms — not a credentialed gunsmith with formal training, licensing, or insurance.
For simple upgrades and parts installations, we can almost certainly help you and save you money doing it. For complex repairs, troubleshooting, or specialized services, you need a licensed gunsmith — and we’ll tell you that honestly upfront.

Payments can be made online once the work is completed and you’ve been notified of the final labor cost.

Our parts and accessory installation services are focused primarily on AR-15 platform rifles and common modern handguns. Services we regularly perform include:

What We Do NOT Do
To avoid any confusion, the following services are outside the scope of what we offer. For these, please seek out a fully licensed gunsmith in the Richmond, Virginia area:
- Building or manufacturing of firearms
- Firearm cleaning and maintenance
- Barrel threading
- Sighting in or test firing
- Complete firearm assembly from individual parts (we cannot build and sell a complete firearm from components for a customer)
- In-depth mechanical repairs or troubleshooting
- Any service requiring specialized gunsmithing equipment or licensing
How It Works — Step by Step
- Before dropping anything off, contact K3 Armory by email or phone at (804) 588-9225 to describe your firearm, what upgrade or installation you need, and whether you already have the parts. We’ll confirm whether it’s something we can accommodate and give you a ballpark labor estimate. Do not drop off your firearm without contacting us first.
Once we’ve confirmed we can help, you can schedule a drop-off appointment at our Midlothian location. Because K3 Armory is a licensed FFL dealer, all firearms that come through our door — even for upgrades — are required to be logged into our ATF acquisition and disposition records. This is standard procedure and protects both you and us. Please bring a valid government-issued photo ID.
Most jobs are completed within one to two business days. We’ll contact you when the work is done and let you know the final labor time so you can calculate your total.
Once notified of completion, submit your labor payment online using the link below. Parts sourced or provided by K3 Armory will be billed separately.
After payment is confirmed, schedule your pickup appointment. Your firearm will be logged back out of our ATF records at that time and returned to you.
Parts — Bring Your Own or We'll Source Them
You have options when it comes to parts and upgrades:
- In-stock parts and accessories — We keep a limited selection of common parts and upgrades on hand. Ask us what’s available.
- We source them for you — If you know what you want but haven’t purchased it yet, we can order parts on your behalf and probably save you some money. Contact us to discuss.
- Bring your own — Purchase your parts separately and bring them along with your firearm.
Parts, accessories and any other components required are priced and billed separately from labor.
Warranty
All upgrade and installation services are performed on a best-effort basis by an experienced enthusiast, not a licensed and insured professional gunsmith. K3 Armory does not offer any warranty — expressed or implied — on labor or installed parts. By using our services, you acknowledge and accept this.
IS THAT REPAIR WORTH IT?
