NFA SALES AND TRANSFERS
Local Class 3/SOT Dealer for Suppressors and SBRs
K3 Armory sells and transfers National Firearms Act (NFA) regulated items like silencers and short-barreled rifles in the Midlothian, Moseley, Chesterfield and Richmond, VA areas.
And there has never been a better time to get started. As of January 1, 2026, the federal $200 NFA tax stamp has been reduced to $0 for suppressors and SBRs. The ATF registration process, paperwork, and approval wait still apply — but the biggest financial barrier to NFA ownership is gone.
That paperwork process can feel intimidating the first time. That’s where we come in. We complete the ATF forms correctly, submit everything through the ATF eForms system, store your item securely until your approval, and complete your final transfer and background check when it’s time to take your item home.
We built our own online submission portal to make NFA transfers as painless as possible. You get a secure personal link to enter your information, upload your documents and fill out your forms on your own time. Once your transfer is approved, that same link becomes a permanent digital home for your tax stamp — pull it up anytime, including while traveling, since the ATF recommends keeping proof of your approved stamp on hand.

How the NFA Transfer Process Works
If you’re local to the Richmond, VA area and can visit our location in Midlothian, here’s how the process works to purchase/transfer a National Firearms Act (NFA) suppressor, silencer or SBR from start to finish.
Purchase directly through K3 Armory from our stock or distributor catalogs (and save on your transfer fee), or purchase from another dealer/online retailer and have it shipped to us as an inbound NFA transfer. If the seller doesn’t have us on file, no problem — contact us and we’ll send them a copy of our FFL/SOT license directly.
Not sure which suppressor is right for you? Take our quick Suppressor Finder Quiz and I’ll personally recommend the right can for your setup.
If purchased from our distributor catalog or from another dealer, that vendor will complete and submit an ATF Form 3 to request approval to transfer the NFA item to K3 Armory. That process usually takes a few days to a week. Once approved, they will ship the item to us. We’ll confirm receipt of your item once it arrives and instruct you to book your first appointment.
After you’ve been notified that your item is here, prepay your NFA Transfer service fee online. Cash is also accepted at the time of your transfer appointment. This service fee is due regardless of ATF approval or background check results.
Next schedule your Suppressor/SBR NFA transfer appointment online — we’re a home-based FFL/SOT and operate by appointment only, which means no waiting in line behind a crowded gun counter.
Collect the required documents and information that you’ll need for your first appointment. Refer to the FAQs below for a full list of everything that you will need to bring.
We’ll sit down together to complete your ATF Form 4 (or Form 1), capture your EFT fingerprints (if applicable), set up your NFA gun trust (if included), and collect your additional documents. We then submit everything electronically through ATF eForms. The federal tax stamp is now $0 — you pay nothing to the ATF.
The ATF processes your application and conducts a background check on every responsible person. Approval times vary — usually from a few days to a few months. Your item stays securely stored at K3 Armory the entire time. We’ll notify you as soon as your approval arrives.
Once your Form 4/Form 1 is approved, schedule your final Suppressor/SBR NFA Transfer appointment for pickup.
At your pickup appointment, you’ll complete the ATF Form 4473, present proper identification, and pass the Virginia State Police (VSP) SP-65 background check. Approval usually takes just a few minutes.
Once approved you’re ready to take your NFA item home! Keep a copy of your approved tax stamp with your item — you’re now a registered NFA owner.
